What goes on a painting work order
A painting work order is a protection plan as much as a task list. Most of what goes wrong on a painting job is not the paint — it is a radiator nobody protected, a floor nobody covered, or furniture moved by people who did not know what was under the sheet.
- The rooms, in the order they will be done
- What is being painted in each, and what is being left
- What is being moved and by whom, and what is staying under sheets
- Floor and fixture protection, room by room
- Colors and products per room, so nothing goes on the wrong wall
- Drying times, and which rooms are out of use when
- Sign-off per room, which is far easier than sign-off at the end
The sample line items and example prices this sheet opens with are on the painting invoice template — the same table, which is about the trade rather than about this paper, so it lives in one place rather than on all six.
What you get

A PDF, and a link your customer can open in any browser. Word and Excel versions are not available yet — if a spreadsheet is what you need, this is not yet the tool for it, and saying so is cheaper for both of us than you finding out after typing everything in.
Pick how it looks
Six looks, from a plain classic sheet through a bold top band to a shop ticket, and your initials go on automatically until you upload a logo. See all six.
How to send it
Most customers want the paper on their phone, so the work order goes out by WhatsApp, text or email, or as a link that needs no app and no account on their side. Or download the PDF to print it or keep it for your own records.
Questions
Should the customer sign off each room?
It is much easier than signing off the lot. A room inspected while the next one is being prepared gets a small correction; the same complaint raised when everything is finished and the sheets are packed is a day back on site. It also spreads the snagging out.
Who moves the furniture?
Settle it before the first sheet goes down. Painters moving a customer’s furniture carry the risk of what breaks, and customers expecting it done feel let down when it is not. Either price it in, or write that the rooms are to be cleared and say by when.
