What goes on a pressure washing invoice

Pressure washing is sold by the surface and judged on the before and after. The invoice should say what was washed, how big it was, and whether anything was sealed afterwards.

  • Each surface on its own line — driveway, deck, siding, roof
  • Area in square feet, where you price by area
  • Any pre-treatment or chemical wash, separately
  • Sealing or brightening, which is a different job from cleaning
  • Water and power: whose, and whether there was a charge
  • Anything you declined to wash, and why

Sample line items and example prices

These are the sample lines and example prices this invoice opens with. They are starting points, not a survey of what anybody charges and not a recommendation — adjust every item to match your work, your rates and your customer before you create the PDF.

Sample pressure washing invoice line items, with the price each one opens at
JobUsual quantityOpens at
Driveway (sq ft)600$0.25
Deck wash & brighten1$220.00
House siding1$340.00

Add, delete or rename any line. The math, the tax and any discount are worked out as you type. Setting the terms? The invoice due date calculator turns Net 15, 30 or 60 into the exact date to put on the invoice.

The same jobs and the same look carry across all six papers, so one pressure washing job can move from estimate to invoice to receipt without retyping.

What you get

A pressure washing invoice filled in and ready to send: driveway (sq ft), deck wash & brighten and house siding each on their own line, with the tax and the total worked out underneath.
What a pressure washing invoice looks like when it is finished. Your business name, your logo and your own prices go in place of these.

A PDF, and a link your customer can open in any browser. Word and Excel versions are not available yet — if a spreadsheet is what you need, this is not yet the tool for it, and saying so is cheaper for both of us than you finding out after typing everything in.

Six looks, from a plain classic sheet through a bold top band to a shop ticket, and your initials go on automatically until you upload a logo. See all six.

How to send it

Most customers want the paper on their phone, so the invoice goes out by WhatsApp, text or email, or as a link that needs no app and no account on their side. Or download the PDF to print it or keep it for your own records.

Questions

Should I price by square foot or by the job?

By area for driveways and siding you can measure; by the job for decks and small work. Show the area on the invoice either way — it is how the customer compares you with the next quote.

Do I charge separately for sealing?

Yes. It is a return visit, different material and a different skill, and bundling it into the wash price makes both look overpriced.

Should I take payment before or after the wash?

After, but on the day, while the customer can see the difference. Pressure washing is the one trade where the before and after is the whole argument, so walk them round it and hand over the receipt there.

Should I price soft washing siding and roofs separately from pressure washing concrete?

Yes. Soft washing uses low pressure and a cleaning solution, and costs you more in chemicals and care per square foot; concrete takes high pressure, a surface cleaner and sometimes hot water. Put each surface on its own line with its method and area — "Vinyl siding, soft wash, 2,100 sq ft" and "Driveway, surface cleaned, 900 sq ft" — so the customer can see why the house costs more per foot than the driveway.

How do I charge for oil stains and rust stains on a driveway?

As spot treatments, separate from the general wash: per stain, per area, or by time and product. Oil and rust need their own degreasers or acid-based cleaners and dwell time, and old stains rarely come out completely. Write "Oil stain treatment, 2 areas — lightened, not guaranteed removed" on the invoice, so the customer was told what to expect before they compare the driveway with the photos.

Do I charge extra for second-story siding or renting a lift?

Most washers do. Height means ladders, extension wands or a lift, more setup and more risk, so either price upper stories at a higher rate or add a height surcharge line. A rented lift goes on as its own line at what you paid plus your handling, with the rental dates. Ask about height when you take the booking, because it changes the job more than square footage does.

How do I invoice fleet washing — per truck or per visit?

Per unit is the common way, with different rates for each vehicle type — box truck, tractor, trailer, van — and a trip minimum if only a few are on the lot. List each unit by fleet or unit number on the invoice, so the fleet manager can match it to their records. Note anything washed differently, such as an undercarriage or a brightened aluminum trailer, as a separate line.

How should I bill graffiti removal?

By the area treated or by time and product, with the surface named, because brick, painted block and bare concrete take very different chemicals. Say on the estimate that a faint "ghost" can remain on porous surfaces, and offer paint-over as a separate line. Commercial and municipal customers often want before-and-after photos attached to the invoice, and repeat sites may suit a standing per-call rate.

Should the invoice say I used the customer’s water and outdoor outlet?

Yes, in one line: "Water supplied by customer, outside spigot." It costs nothing, answers the question when a large job shows up on their water bill, and records what the price assumed. If you brought water in a tank, ran your own generator or paid a hydrant meter fee, list that as a charge instead. Hydrant use and runoff rules vary by city, so check locally first.
