What goes on a roofing work order
A roofing work order is mostly about the ground, not the roof. Where the dumpster goes, where the material is dropped, which side the crew opens first and what the weather plan is — those are what decide whether a tear-off finishes in a day or leaves a house open overnight.
- The property, the access, and where the dumpster and materials are placed
- The crew, the start time, and the expected duration
- The tear-off plan: how much is opened at once, and what gets dried in
- The material list drawn for the job, fasteners and flashings included
- The weather plan — what happens if it turns, and who makes that call
- Protection: landscaping, driveway, vehicles, and the magnet sweep at the end
- Sign-off, and the photographs taken of the deck before it is covered
The sample line items and example prices this sheet opens with are on the roofing invoice template — the same table, which is about the trade rather than about this paper, so it lives in one place rather than on all six.
What you get

A PDF, and a link your customer can open in any browser. Word and Excel versions are not available yet — if a spreadsheet is what you need, this is not yet the tool for it, and saying so is cheaper for both of us than you finding out after typing everything in.
Pick how it looks
Six looks, from a plain classic sheet through a bold top band to a shop ticket, and your initials go on automatically until you upload a logo. See all six.
How to send it
Most customers want the paper on their phone, so the work order goes out by WhatsApp, text or email, or as a link that needs no app and no account on their side. Or download the PDF to print it or keep it for your own records.
Questions
Why photograph the deck?
Because it is the only time anybody can see it. Decking replaced is a charge the customer cannot verify afterwards, and photographs taken before the underlayment goes down turn a disputed line into a settled one. They are also what a manufacturer will ask for on a warranty claim.
How much roof should be opened at once?
Only what can be dried in the same day, and the work order should say so. The judgment belongs to whoever is on site, but writing the rule down is what stops an ambitious start leaving a house under a tarp in a storm.
