What goes on a roofing quote

Insurance and new-build roofing is quoted, because somebody else has already written the scope — the adjuster’s figures on one, the drawing on the other. The quote’s job is to say where your scope ends, because the gap between what was specified and what the roof actually needs is where the argument lives.

  • The scope as specified, and the document it came from — claim number or drawing
  • Area in squares, the pitch, and how many layers are coming off
  • The system: shingle or membrane by manufacturer, underlayment, ice and water shield
  • Flashings, vents and penetrations, itemized
  • Decking: the allowance included, and the rate beyond it
  • Disposal, and scaffolding or access equipment
  • Both warranties — manufacturer and workmanship — and both signatures

The sample line items and example prices this sheet opens with are on the roofing invoice template — the same table, which is about the trade rather than about this paper, so it lives in one place rather than on all six. Working out the price itself? The markup calculator turns your cost and markup into the figure to put on the quote, and shows the margin it leaves.

What you get

A roofing quote template filled in and ready to send: shingle repair (sq), underlayment and flashing each on their own line, with the tax and the total worked out underneath.
What a roofing quote looks like when it is finished. Your business name, your logo and your own prices go in place of these.

A PDF, and a link your customer can open in any browser. Word and Excel versions are not available yet — if a spreadsheet is what you need, this is not yet the tool for it, and saying so is cheaper for both of us than you finding out after typing everything in.

Pick how it looks

Six looks, from a plain classic sheet through a bold top band to a shop ticket, and your initials go on automatically until you upload a logo. See all six.

How to send it

Most customers want the paper on their phone, so the quote goes out by WhatsApp, text or email, or as a link that needs no app and no account on their side. Or download the PDF to print it or keep it for your own records.

Questions

How do I quote insurance work without losing money?

Quote the roof, not the claim. The adjuster’s scope is their estimate of the loss and it routinely misses code upgrades, extra layers and decking. Price what the job needs, show where it differs from the scope, and let the homeowner take the difference back to the insurer — that is a conversation they can have and you cannot.

Should the quote name the manufacturer?

Always. A roof quoted as “architectural shingles” can be met with anything, and on a system warranty the manufacturer’s name is the warranty. Naming it also stops a cheaper quote looking comparable when it is not.
