About JobPaperwork
JobPaperwork is a tool for the paperwork that comes with doing the job: the invoice, the estimate, the receipt, the work order. It is built for the person who does the work and also does the billing, usually from a phone, usually standing next to the van.
How it works
- Pick your trade, and trade-specific sample line items and example prices are filled in.
- Edit the lines — rename, add, delete, change prices; the math and tax update as you type.
- Add your logo, or let your initials stand in, and choose one of six looks.
- Send it as a PDF by WhatsApp, text or email, or as a link — or download it to print.
What it does
- Twelve papers: invoice, estimate, quote, receipt, work order, service agreement, purchase order, change order, statement of work, punch list, credit memo and progress invoice.
- Twenty trades, each opening with the jobs and prices that trade actually bills for.
- Six looks, with your initials or your uploaded logo placed automatically.
- Sends by WhatsApp, text or email, or as a link your customer opens in a browser.
- Downloads as a PDF you can print or keep.
- Works without an account, on the first visit, with nothing to install.
What it does not do
Worth knowing before you start, because these are the things people assume:
- It does not export Word or Excel files yet. Every paper comes out as a PDF.
- It does not take payments. Marking a paper as paid records that for you; the money moves however you and your customer already arrange it.
- It does not chase your customers. Overdue papers turn red so you can see them, but nothing is sent on your behalf.
- It is not an accountant. What is on your invoice, and what tax belongs on it, is yours to get right.
Why there are prices already in the sheet
Each trade opens with sample line items common to that trade, and those lines carry a figure so the sheet is not empty while you learn your way around it. Those figures are starting points, not a survey of what anybody charges and not a recommendation — they come from the common shape of the work, and every one is yours to change before you send anything. Where a page shows example prices, it says so; none of them is presented as a market rate.
Who makes it
JobPaperwork is an independent product, built and maintained by one small team rather than a large company, which is why there is a real email address below instead of a ticket form. It is not owned by any of the trades it serves and takes no commission on anything you bill — the papers are yours.
What it keeps
Papers you make are saved so you can find them again, and until you sign in they are tied to the browser you made them in — clear that browser’s data and they are gone. Signing in, either with a code sent to your email address or with Google, moves the papers made on that device into the account so they are reachable from your phone and your computer both. A paper you send gets its own link, and whoever has that link can open it; it is not listed anywhere or indexed by search engines.
What it costs
Nothing, for everything described above. No account is required to make or send a paper, there is no watermark on the PDF, no limit on how many you make, and no card is asked for at any point. Make and send as many as you like — that is the whole offer, stated plainly.
Questions
The FAQ covers the ones that come up most, including invoice numbering, deposits, and what has to be on an invoice, and the guides go further on the ones that need more than a paragraph.
Anything else, including a bug or a trade you would like added: alok@shimirait.com.
The formal bits
What it stores and what it does not do with it, and the terms. Both are plain English and both are short.
