What goes on a welding work order
On-site welding is governed by what is around it. Hot work in an occupied building, a farm yard, a workshop with solvent in it — the sheet exists to record what was checked before an arc was struck, and who checked it.
- The site, where the work is happening, and who is in charge of it
- The hot work permit, where the site requires one
- What is being welded, and what it is made of
- Fire watch: who, and for how long after the work stops
- What has been moved or covered, and what cannot be
- Isolation of anything electrical, and whether the item is earthed
- Sign-off, and the time the fire watch ended
The sample line items and example prices this sheet opens with are on the welding invoice template — the same table, which is about the trade rather than about this paper, so it lives in one place rather than on all six.
What you get

A PDF, and a link your customer can open in any browser. Word and Excel versions are not available yet — if a spreadsheet is what you need, this is not yet the tool for it, and saying so is cheaper for both of us than you finding out after typing everything in.
Pick how it looks
Six looks, from a plain classic sheet through a bold top band to a shop ticket, and your initials go on automatically until you upload a logo. See all six.
How to send it
Most customers want the paper on their phone, so the work order goes out by WhatsApp, text or email, or as a link that needs no app and no account on their side. Or download the PDF to print it or keep it for your own records.
Questions
Why does the fire watch go on the work order?
Because the fire starts after everyone has gone home. Most hot work fires begin in the hour after the welding stopped, and a sheet recording who watched and until when is both the safe practice and the thing an insurer will ask for.
What do I need to know before welding on a customer’s machine?
What it is made of, and whether anything is still connected. Welding on a vehicle or a machine with the battery connected or the electronics live is how an expensive thing becomes a scrapped thing, and the sheet is where you record that you checked.
